NURTW Lift Ban On Union Leader, Others In Lagos

By - - [ ]

The national President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Najeem Usman Yasin has announced that the suspension on a union leader , Kunle Poly and others has been lifted . Yasin who charged members to be of good conducts during and after the general elections said he was very happy to announce that there is no longer faction in the union as all the suspended members have been forgiven.

He disclosed this to journalist during meeting with all members of National Administrative Council ( NAC) at the NURTW secretariat , Lagos , also said the union was fully prepared for the general elections, warning that anyone who failed to comply with the memorandum of understanding reached between the union and Independent National Electoral Commission

( INEC) would be punished. According to him, INEC has lived up to expectations and has adhered to the conditions given to it saying, “Anyone who sabotaged during the elections would be fished out by the working committee set up to monitor the activities of our members.

I want to seriously warn and remind you that NURTW is not a political party but an affiliate of the Nigerian Labour Congress. We are not under any political party. ‘’You are free citizens that are free to belong to any political party.

I want you to go to the polling stations, cast your vote to any candidate of your choice and go back home .Anyone caught in any electoral malpractices will be dealt with.” Yasin who said he visited Lagos to reconcile the warring factions of the members in Lagos, said, ” I am happy to announce to you that people quarrelling have settled.

We have no factions again. We have forgiven everybody. All the people that were suspended, including Kunle Poly have been forgiven .We have lifted the suspension on Kunle Poly and others .

NURTW in Lagos is one and under the leadership of Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede. My mission in Lagos has been accomplished. ‘’ I came for reconciliation and for the interest of peace, we have called back those on suspension .With the meeting today, I doubt if there is anybody who will leave here to foment trouble’’ .
