Notorious cultist killed in Osogbo by rival cult group

By - - [ ]

A popular cultist known as Badoo in Osogbo, Osun state has been killed by members of a rival cult group, Daily Trust reports.

Badoo was murdered at popular joint called Star Night, near the former secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Ladsol area, Osogbo as he was overpowered during the clash between his group and another cult group.

The supremacy battle between the two rivalry cult groups caused panic in the area and the timely intervention of policemen prevented it from escalating further.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Fimihan Adeoye confirmed the death of the cultist in a telephone conversation with Daily Trust.

“Yes, one person was killed during the clash between the cult groups. We are investigating the matter. The situation is under control now. No arrest yet. I can assure you that the culprits will not go unpunished”, CP Adeoye said.

Daily Trust gathered that the late cultist had been arrested by police severally and that he was always released on bail when arraigned in court.
A source who preferred anonymity confided in our correspondent “when he was arrested recently, he was arraigned in court but the court granted him bail and he came back to cause more trouble.”

“Immediately he was released, he attacked the son of a policeman and stabbed the boy. He almost killed the innocent boy. His target was the policeman that arrested him but he attacked the son of another policeman”, the source said.

As at the time of filing this report, there was fear of reprisal attack by members of the late Badoo’s cult group but the Commissioner of Police said members of public should not panic.
CP Adeoye assured people in the area of their safety. He urged the residents of Osogbo, particularly those living in the affected area not to panic.
