Again UniJos disowns Plateau lawmaker’s cert.

By - - [ ]

The Registrar, University of Jos, Mr Monday Danjem has for the third time disowned the diploma certificate in Business Administration claimed to have been obtained from the institution by a member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Baba Hassan.

The lawmaker who represents Jos North-North constituency in the state House of Assembly was sued before a Federal High Court sitting in Jos by Abdul Saleh, who contested the 2014 primary election under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) and lost.

Saleh is accusing the lawmaker of submitting a fake Diploma Certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 2014 for 2015 general elections.

However, at the resumed hearing on Thursday, Danjem said based on the university records, the lawmaker had enrolled for a diploma programme in Business Administration but failed six courses at the end of the programme and never resit at any time for the failed courses.

While being cross*xamined by the counsel to Baba Hassan, the registrar said, “Unijos did not issue the Diploma Certificate of Hassan because he did not graduate from the institution.”

This is the third time the registrar is testifying against the lawmaker. The first was on the 11th October, 2016, when he submitted a written document following a subpoena by the court.

It was followed by a second oral testimony last week when the registrar told the court that the university did not issue the said certificate to the lawmaker.

On Thursday, Damden stated that “the university of Jos has records of Hassan Ibrahim as having been enrolled in the university but didn’t graduate and the university never issued any certificate to him because he failed six courses.”

After the cross examination, the counsel to the 1st Defendant, Solomon Umoh requested for an adjournment to enable him attend to personal issues while the counsel to the Plaintiff, David Ibeawuchi didn’t object to the request.

The presiding judge, Musa Kurya adjourned the case to 7th December, 2018 for the hearing.
