DSGBVR Condemns he Death Of A Student In Delsu

Delta State s*xual and Gender-Based Violence Response Team (DSGBVR) has condemned the gruesome murder of the late Miss Ehiozino Joshualah Ogege, a student of Delta State University.

The DSGBVR is in based in the state’s Ministry of Justice.

The Team’s Alternate Chairperson, Mrs Bridget Ayafule, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Asaba that the late Ogege was a thrid year student of Mass Communication Department of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.

She said that she was murdered by unscrupulous blood-thirsty elements without justifiable reasons on Nov. 15.

Ayafule said that a situation where our young women and children were slaughtered as if they were fouls by these criminal elements in the society in a bid to get rich quick was condemnable.

She said that all religious, social, governmental and non-governmental groups should rightly condemne this act and all hands must be on deck to socially re-engineer our youths towards productive and economic ventures.

Ayafule noted that the moral decadence in our society had assumed an alarming proportion and that DSGBVR hereby sought the cooperation of all stakeholders in social engineering fields to curb the menace.

She the stakeholders included the family, traditional institutions, religious organisations, schools and government institutions to wake up to their responsibilities and redirect youths to positive productive ventures.

Ayafule also commended Delta Commissioner of Police and the entire Nigeria Police for their quick response and arrest of these wicked murderers.

She urged the police to expedite action and quickly bring them to justice.

The DSGBVR chairperson demanded the adoption of pro-active security measures to bring to an end to the recent upsurge in ritual killings in Delta.

She said that DSGBVR was determined to collaborate with stakeholders to offer services that would not only tend to ameliorate the sufferings of victims of s*xual and gender-based violence but assist in reducing to the barest minimum or even eradicating such violence in Delta.

Ayafule said that DSGBVR had resolved to say “no to s*xual violence, no to domestic violence and no to ritual killing in Delta”.
