Two expatriates who were kidnapped from a construction site at Itakpe in Okehi local government area of Kogi State have regained their freedom from captivity.
Intelligence Officer of the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Records, Lokoja, Capt. Nick Ejeh disclosed this on Saturday in Lokoja on the sidelines of a press briefing held by the Acting Director, Defence Information to update the public on the activities of Army’s Clearance Operations in the state.
He said the expatriates were freed from captivity on Friday and were in good condition.
Daily Trust reports that the expatriates were supervising an ongoing road project in the area when they were abducted.
The kidnappers reportedly demanded N15 million ransom but it was not clear if any payment was made before they were freed.
Speaking on the recent gruesome murder of a masquerade custodian in Okene, Capt Ejeh said the Army were working in synergy with other security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.
He said it took the prompt response by the military to quell the rising tension that pervaded Okene following the killing.
