2019: YPM says Yorubas must be wise in their choice of leaders

By - - [ ]

A socio-cultural and political group for Yoruba’s in the southwest region, the Yoruba Patriots Movement (YPM), has called on all Yoruba’s in the country to let common sense and wisdom prevail in their choice of leaders for the country in the 2019 election.

The group which noted that the choices available to the people particularly at the national level are a clear indication of a party which obviously loves the Yoruba’s and another group that does not.

Speaking during a press conference in Ibadan, YPM National Coordinator, Mr Oladosu Oladipo said although the group has not made up its mind to declare support for any political party, it is necessary that all Yoruba in the interest of the progress of the region and the people should be thankful to an administration that has so much confidence in people from the region and entrusted them with key political appointments.

His speech was entitled “Issue: Yoruba Patriots Movement (YPM) and the 2019 Presidential Election”

He noted that although membership of the Movement span across all political parties in the country, it was not a difficult situation for the people to see and decide who they would like to align with in the forthcoming presidential election.

He added that the members are free to decided and support any candidate and or political party ahead of the election but that the group will in due course and at the right time make public its decision as to where to pitch the tent in the 2019 election.

Oladosu however warned that members of the public must beware of some acclaimed members of the group which he described as ‘strange elements’ who run after party candidates for their selfish interest, especially collecting monies in the name of the YPM.

“YPM envisions to be the umbrella economic development oriented cum socio-cultural, political movement of the Yoruba united for the progress of the region with the active inclusiveness of its citizens so as to monitor and hold those in power in the spirit of unity, oneness and friendship such that Yoruba citizens including all members see themselves as a body of good family of Oduduwa and set high moral standard in the Yoruba’s Omoluabi Ethical Societal Value system.”
